For as long as I remember, I’ve been told 1, what I can not do and 2, what I have to do. It’s not only because I live in Norway, among one of the most obedient populations in the Western World, that daily life seems to be stained by these boundaries. It’s like this everywhere now, and I believe it’s one of many signs of a civilization approaching its collapse.
I often say that any fool can be a critic, but only a few, rare individuals have the talent and perseverance to become creative artists. Also, I am astonished by the fact that so many people believe that professional artists actually care about what those critics think. Let me tell you a secret: We don’t.
Peace seems to be something everybody wants. It is one of the most common ways of saying to someone that we want him/her to be well: «Go with peace.» «May peace be with you.» «Peace, my friend.» We’ve all heard those phrases and maybe used them ourselves. And even though I understand it is a very nice thing to say, I am never comfortable when people wish me peace.
